Amulya Barua (Assamese: অমূল্য বৰুৱা) was a pioneer of modern Assamese poetry. He was born at Jorhat on June 30, 1922. In 1941, he passed matriculation examination from Jorhat Govt High School with letter marks in Assamese and in 1945 he passed his B.A. examination from Jagannath Barooah College, Jorhat. Then he went to Kolkata for higher studies and admitted into the MA class of Calcutta University. But Amulya Barua was killed in the infamous communal violence of Bengal in 1946 along with many of his hostel mates at Raja Ram Narayan Street, Kolkata. His only collection of poems Achina (The Stranger) was published in 1964 after his death. Some of his famous poems include Andhaaraor Hahakar (The Tumult of Darkness), Beishya (The Prostitute), Biplobi (The Revolutionary) and Kukur (The Dog)

Mahim Bora (Assamese: মহিম বৰা) (born 1924) is an Indian writer and educationist from Assam.[1] He was elected as a president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha held in 1989 at Doomdooma.[2] He was awarded with most notably with the Padma Shri, Sahitya Akademi Award and Assam Valley Literary Award

Mahim Bora was born at a tea estate of Sonitpur district. He is an M.A. in Assamese literature from Gauhati University and had been a teacher in the Nowgong College for most of his teaching career. He has now retired and lives at Nagaon. Bora spent a good part of his childhood in the culture-rich surroundings of rural Nagaon.

Bora's chief anthology of poems is Rangajivya (The Red Dragon-fly;1978). In his short stories, he is an observer of folk and rural situations. He is a regular contributor of short stories to various periodicals.
